A long stretch of sand, hills, forests, trees and lake
Located between the Querim beach in the north and the Morjim beach on the south, lies one of the most serene and relatively undisturbed beaches of Goa – the Arambol beach. As the hippies arrived in Goa, in the 1960s, most of them settled down at Calangute. But a few took further north in search of a more pristine, greener part of Goa and found their liking in Arambol. The beach, even today, has a distinct bohemian feel to it; a remembrance of its olden days.
Arambol is one of the greenest and cleanest beaches in North Goa. Its 16 km long shoreline is lined with palm trees and hills. Towards the northern part of the beach, lie a thick forest and Sweet-water lake. According to a legend, there is a distinct banyan tree amidst the forest, which is famous for being the place where the famous music band, the Beatles, had meditated. Adjoining the Banyan tree, one can see a stone sculpture, created by Jacek Tylicki, an American conceptual and land artist, called as the Money Stone. Encrypted on the stone are words, “Give if you can, take if you have to”.
This half rocky, half sandy beach is as chilled and laid back as a beach can get. With beautiful surroundings, full of palm trees, this beach is a nature-lover’s paradise. A long walk on the beach, reggae parties and yoga sessions, Arambol beach is a representation of everything that is relaxing; not that it doesn’t have something in store for the adventurists as well.
A small walk above the hills and you will find mesmerizing landscapes surrounding you from all four sides. No wonder the beach is considered as one of the most beautiful beaches of Goa.
Rent a lounge chair and enjoy a relaxing time with great food, to laze away your vacation at the Sweet-water lake, located at the northern part of the beach.
The Bohemian life seeps into the parties at Arambol beach, as the reggae music fills the air and the Hippies dancing to their own tunes. Some people go to Anjuna beach for their parties and nightlife.
There are a few para-sailing and boat-rides available for those looking for some adventure and water sports.
The beauty of Goa is that you are never too far from two things – the beach and the amazing cuisines. There are a lot of options to choose from and one can easily get options for their favorite kind of cuisine, be it the traditional Konkani style Goan preparation, the famous fish-curry-rice of Goa, Indian, Italian, Russian or Tibetan.
