Ashwem beach can be called as one of the best kept secrets of Goa. Located to the north of Panjim, Ashwem beach offers a delightful view of the ocean with coconut and palm trees along its border. The Ashwem beach extends from the Northern banks of Chapora River till the Querim beach. It is about 30 km from the capital city Panjim, and about 19 km from Calangute which is one of the most popular destinations in Goa. The pristine beach of Ashwem is tucked away from the crowds and is an ideal place for tourists who are looking for a quiet vacation. With its clean sandy beach and less crowds, Ashwem has a laid back atmosphere where one can spend some quality time, relaxing on the beach shacks. Ashwem beach is more popular amongst the foreign tourists than Indian tourists. The foreign tourists visit here to get away from the other crowded beaches in Goa. Even though Ashwem doesn’t follow the hippie Goan culture, it is still considered by tourists as one of the best beaches in Goa to visit.
Ashwem beach is one of the four nesting grounds for the famous Olive Ridley Turtles. From September to February, a part of Ashwem beach becomes a nesting spot for the endangered Olive Ridley sea turtles. Animal welfare activists and environmentalists from different parts of the world visit Ashwem beach to experience this rare event.
Even though Ashwem beach is not popular for water adventure sports like other popular beaches in North Goa, one can still find a couple of water activities here. Because of its relatively lesser crowds, Ashwem beach is an ideal choice for surfing. You can also take surfing lessons from certified instructors.
Unlike other beaches in Goa, Ashwem beach is where the tourists seek relaxation. The to-do list for Ashwem beach includes leisure activities like sunbathing on the beach, relaxing in the shacks, Ayurvedic massages right on the beach and so on.
One of the most famous landmarks in Goa is the ancient Chapora fort built by the Potuguese. Ashwem beach is just 5km away from Chapora fort. One can enjoy a scenic view at sunrise and at sunset from here.

The nearest bus station from Ashwem is Mapusa bus station. One can hire an auto or taxi to reach Ashwem beach. Renting a vehicle is also quite popular amongst many tourists here.
